Yeabe Medical Center & Rehabilitation’s mission is to organize, develop and operate a new medical treatment facility in Sululta, one of the woredas or districts in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. Our goal is to implement medical treatment for those in poverty. Our services will be provided WITHOUT CHARGE as charitable services for All patients. Yeabe Medical Center will implement emergency medicine, acute care treatment with women’s birthing and delivery, rehabilitation, and hospice care services. Our initial construction will include 500 beds, including medical diagnostic and treatment areas, and outpatient service departments. We are currently in negotiations for the location in Sululta, Ethiopia, including the final land commitment, permits, architectural planning, construction estimates and long term financing commitments. Yeabe Medical Center will implement Level One Emergency Medicine programs to provide lifesaving trauma care for patients suffering accidents and injury. We plan to provide safety educational programs to reduce incident rates for accidents in the Sululta, Oromia Region of Ethiopia.
Yeabe Medical Center will provide acute care treatment including disease diagnosis and treatment for women, men and children, providing limited surgery for Women’s Obstetrics and Gynecological procedures, birthing and delivery. Diagnostics equipment shall include radiology, fluoroscope and cardiac electro-physiology lab, CAT scan , and a full hospital lab with automated hematology lab analysis equipment. Yeabe Rehabilitation will operate specialty rehabilitation programs for children and adults, including physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy..We will collaborate with Leading Rehabilitation Hospitals and teaching institutions in the United States to provide international internship and residency training experiences for US Interns and Residents, whereby resident staff positions at our facility will serve rehabilitation patients with disabilities in Salula, Ethiopia. Our goal is to restore each patient to their highest level of independent functioning. Yeabe Hospice Care concentrates on managing a patient’s pain and other symptoms so that the patient may live as comfortable as possible and make the most of the time that remains. Our programs address the patient’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs, while providing comforting, compassionate care. In home hospice care and counseling will be provided.’ Short term goals for grants:
• We seek grants to promote wellness and organize health fairs; including specialty workshops for health and wellness for women and children, including operating a specialty clinic for pregnancy monitoring with ultrasound diagnostics including implement training for female health extension workers and midwifes to reduce high risk infant mortality in the Sululta, Oromia Region of Ethiopia.. • We seek grants for disease prevention services; including inoculation and vaccination services as provided for the broader population of our community, while collaborating with the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia, the CDC and World Health Organization.
• We seek grants to lead and participate in organizing educational and research activities for specific diseases. For Example; we intend to electronically record health data for major vector and vector borne disease research such as Malaria. Malaria is responsible for 8.3 of all outpatient visits in Ethiopian hospitals where clinical diagnosis is made without laboratory confirmation, (1.), and an additional 3.7 outpatient visits are for Malaria (confirmed with species other than Plasmodium falciparum). Malaria accounts for approximately 12% of outpatient visits to medical facilities in Ethiopia.
